Lubbock is best known as the birthplace of music legend Buddy Holly and has been the home or birthplace of several famous figures in music, acting, and politics, such as Natalie Maines of The Chicks and actor Barry Corbin. While many people from Lubbock have achieved international fame, the city is not currently a major destination for relocating celebrities. Most "celebrities" associated with Lubbock are individuals who were raised there or who maintain regional ties, rather than outside stars moving into the city.
